About Roland

Roland H. Wauer concluded his 32-year career with the National Park Service, during which he held positions in six different national parks, served as the Regional Chief Scientist in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and worked as the Chief of Resource Management in Washington, D.C. He has authored 32 books on topics related to wildlife and the national parks, along with two novels: "Natural Inclinations: One Man's Exploration of the Natural World" and "From the Mayan Jungle to the Aztec Metropolis: A Journey from Ruins to Ruins." His deep passion for nature has led him to travel to every state in Mexico, including the Yucatan, where he developed a keen interest in Mayan ruins. This fascination with archaeology inspired him to visit various ruins in Mexico, Tikal in Guatemala, and the Aztec ruins of Tenochtitlan. Currently, he resides in Bryan, Texas.
